Looking through this picturesque engagement session, we thought, “what more is there to love about this dazzling e-session?” Two madly in love, sweethearts displaying their love and down to earth personalities in Central Park. Every smile, laugh, and “deep stare into each other’s eyes” being captured by none other, than John Arcara Photography. We certainly thought there couldn’t be more to love, but getting to know Jen (through email) we instantly fell in love with her very sweet + kind personality and not to mention, the philanthropic day she & Matt met. In very New York fashion, these two cuties met at a cocktail fundraiser on the Lower East Side of New York, in November of ‘08. The organization in which both Jen & Matt attended was The Foundation for Tomorrow, which sends school aged girls in Africa to school year round. Jen, guarding a Bally’s bag in the event’s silent auction quickly hit it off with Matt & they have not stopped talking since.
Fast forward three years to the exact date of their first anniversary & you will find Mattt proposing to Jen on a Friday night in their kitchen, which Jen described as “perfectly genuine and very indicative of how we are-very down to earth and both relative homebodies.” Jen’s vision for the couple’s engagement session was to capture all of NYC in one afternoon, but instead she opted for Central Park- which she believes, “captures the essence of NYC- sometimes calm, sometimes a bit crazed. I love them!”
From the bride... “My (now) husband and I met at a cocktail fundraiser on the LES in November of 2008. The charity was a wonderful organization- The Foundation for Tomorrow- which raises money to send school aged girls in Africa to school year round. Matt and I hit it off while I was guarding a Bally's bag in the event's silent auction and we have spoken every single day since. We engaged three years to the day of our first date anniversary. We were engaged on a Friday night in our kitchen while we were living on the UWS which was perfectly genuine and very indicative of how we are- very down to earth and both relative homebodies.
We had both lived in NYC for many years and wanted to get married in NYC. After logistics and price changed our view, we were married on 5/5 in New Jersey, where my mom currently lives. Because of the wedding location, I was adamant that our engagement session reflect NYC. I couldnt figure out how to photograph all of NYC in one afternoon (Statue of LIberty, Empire State Building, Midtown, Park Ave, the village) so instead, we opted for Central Park.
It happened to be a gorgeous spring day and I think the pictures really capture the essence of NYC- sometimes calm, sometimes a bit crazed. I love them!”
